01 Kit Digital 2026: AI grants for SMEs are still alive

If you are looking for AI grants for SMEs in 2026 or government funding to bring artificial intelligence into your business, Kit Digital is still the go-to programme. The latest calls closed on 31 October 2025, but the programme has not ended: on 28 January 2026 the Spanish Official Gazette (BOE) published Order TDF/39/2026, which keeps Kit Digital in force until its funds are fully used and allows Red.es to launch new calls with the budget that was left unspent.

The new call has not been published yet, so now is the best time to get ready. The official source will always be the BOE and the Red.es e-office.

02 What changes with Order TDF/39/2026

The programme no longer has an end date: it remains active until the available funds run out.

Unspent funds are reinvested in the programme itself, even beyond 2026.

A second chance for applications rejected due to lack of budget: they can be reassessed with the remaining funds.

New calls by company size segment, which Red.es will publish with their own deadlines, requirements and amounts.

03 AI solutions in the Kit Digital catalogue

The digital voucher is redeemed for solutions from the official catalogue, implemented by an accredited digitalisation agent. Since 2024 the catalogue has included solutions with Artificial Intelligence features, and AI is set to take centre stage in this new phase. These are the main categories from the latest calls:

Artificial Intelligence

Virtual assistants, task automation and data analysis so your business works better with less effort.

AI-powered customer management

A CRM that organises your contacts and opportunities, and that with AI can prioritise customers, suggest replies and forecast sales.

Website and e-commerce

Website and online presence, online store and SEO so your customers can find you.

Business management

Process management (ERP), e-invoicing and business intelligence.

Cybersecurity and virtual office

Device protection, secure communications and collaboration tools for your team.

The final catalogue will be set by the new call. Keep in mind that you cannot fund a solution you already have in place.

Not sure which solution fits your business best? We analyse your case and recommend the one that gets the most out of your voucher.

04 How to use AI in your business: examples for SMEs

The question we hear most is how to use AI in my business without overcomplicating things. Here are some real examples of AI for SMEs that can be implemented today:

Automation and operations

Automate processes with AI that eat up your time today: reading and recording supplier invoices, preparing quotes, updating stock or generating reports. AI virtual agents for businesses work inside your management system and handle these tasks for you.

Customer service and sales

An AI chatbot on WhatsApp or on your website that works as a 24/7 virtual customer service assistant: it answers questions, takes orders and books appointments. Connected to an AI-powered CRM, every conversation becomes an organised sales opportunity.

Business analytics

Predictive analytics tools for SMEs and AI-powered business intelligence: sales forecasts, detection of customers at risk of leaving or stock alerts, explained in plain language so you can make better decisions.

06 Kit Digital vs Kit Consulting: what's the difference?

They are two complementary Red.es programmes: Kit Digital funds the implementation of solutions, while Kit Consulting funded prior advisory services, including AI advisory to define what to implement and how.

07 What if I already applied for Kit Digital?

It depends on how your application ended:

It was rejected due to lack of funds: good news. Order TDF/39/2026 allows these applications to be reassessed with the remaining budget. It is worth reviewing your file and keeping your documents up to date.

It was granted: in previous calls the voucher was one per company, although in 2024 Segment III beneficiaries were allowed to top up their grant. What the new call will establish for previous beneficiaries, for example for AI solutions, will be known once it is published.

You never applied: now is the time to get ready, because in previous calls grants were awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget ran out.

Was your Kit Digital application rejected, or are you unsure whether you can apply again? We review your situation and let you know as soon as the call clarifies your case.

08 Kit Digital AI requirements and how to get ready with a digitalisation agent

When the application period opens, those who have everything ready on day one will have the edge. A digitalisation agent specialised in artificial intelligence can act as your representative and submit the application for you as soon as the call is published. This is what you should have ready:

Registration on Acelera Pyme and completion of the digital diagnosis test, a requirement to apply.

Being up to date with your tax and Social Security obligations.

A valid digital certificate, or authorisation for your digitalisation agent to act as your representative.

Your average headcount calculated, as it determines your segment and voucher amount.

A clear idea of what you want to implement: AI, CRM, website, online store… so you can use your voucher without wasting time.

Rather not deal with the paperwork? We get your documents ready so your application can be submitted as soon as the period opens.

09 Frequently asked questions

Can I apply for Kit Digital right now?
The new call is not open yet, but the programme is still active. As in all previous calls, grants are expected to be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funds run out, so the best thing you can do is have everything ready with a digitalisation agent who can submit your application as soon as the call is published.

Can I get Kit Digital AI solutions at zero cost?
In previous calls, the voucher covered 100% of the solution's taxable base and the beneficiary only paid the taxes (VAT, or IGIC in the Canary Islands). If the chosen solution cost more than the grant, the beneficiary paid the difference.

Which AI solutions are included in the Kit Digital catalogue?
Since 2024 the catalogue has included solutions with Artificial Intelligence features, such as virtual assistants, automation and data analysis. The specific catalogue will be confirmed by the new call.

I've heard there are €40 million for AI in SMEs. Is that Kit Digital?
Not exactly. It is a Red.es programme channelled through business associations and technology centres, which will develop AI use cases. Companies do not apply for it directly.
