01 About Cardomfe
Founded over 30 years ago in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife, Cardomfe is a benchmark artisan catering company in the Canary Islands. Built on a commitment to quality, authentic flavour, and a diverse product range suitable for every type of event — from corporate meetings to personal celebrations — Cardomfe has earned the trust of its clients through three decades of consistent, handcrafted excellence.
As the business grew and its operations scaled, the complexity of managing orders, production, supplier relationships, and food safety compliance increased significantly. The manual systems that had served them in the early years were no longer sufficient for a catering operation of this size and regulatory complexity.
02 The Challenge: Managing Food Production and Compliance Without a Connected System
Running an artisan catering operation that manages custom orders, perishable products, and strict food safety requirements simultaneously creates a very specific kind of operational pressure. For Cardomfe, the challenges were both operational and regulatory:
Order management at scale without traceability
As order volumes grew across corporate clients and event catering, managing each customer order — from receipt to final delivery — without a structured system created gaps in visibility and increased the risk of errors at every stage of the process.
Food safety and expiration date management
In food production, traceability is not optional — it is a regulatory requirement. Managing lot numbers, expiration dates, and product origin across a diverse artisan catalogue without a dedicated system exposed Cardomfe to compliance risk and made quality control difficult to maintain consistently.
No standardized logistics labeling
Without standardized labeling across the supply chain, tracking products through production, storage, and delivery was inefficient and prone to errors — affecting both operational accuracy and the client experience at the point of delivery.
The implementation was structured in three areas:
1. Manufacturing and Product Catalogue Management
A dedicated manufacturing module was implemented to manage Cardomfe’s full product range — from recipe and ingredient management to production planning and finished product control. The module supports precise management of the product catalogue and pricing, and simplifies purchasing and raw material management for artisan food production at scale.
2. Full Product Traceability with Lot and Expiration Date Control
Every product in Cardomfe’s operation is now tracked with complete traceability — from supplier order through production to customer delivery. Each item carries lot information and expiration dates, enabling full visibility across the supply chain and ensuring food safety compliance at every stage. Customer orders and supplier orders are fully connected, eliminating manual reconciliation between purchasing and production.
3. GS1-128 Technology for Logistics Efficiency
The integration of GS1-128 barcode technology into Cardomfe’s logistics processes was a defining step in the operation’s evolution. Standardized labels generated automatically across the supply chain enabled faster, more accurate product tracking and delivery — reducing errors, improving supply chain visibility, and delivering a more reliable experience to clients at the point of receipt.
