Solid Tile is a Miami-based company specializing in the import and distribution of ceramic and porcelain products, operating within a complex environment that combines international purchasing, container management, inventory tracked across multiple units of measure, and a high volume of commercial transactions.

As the company grew, its administrative and operational processes began to show limitations. The lack of integration between key areas made operational traceability difficult and increased the risk of errors—particularly within a logistics chain as specific and demanding as the ceramic industry.

Challenges

Before working with Binhex, Solid Tile faced several critical challenges:

  • Disconnection between key areas: purchasing, logistics, inventory, sales, and accounting operated with limited integration.
  • Manual processes that slowed down operations and increased the likelihood of errors.​
  • Limited traceability from purchase orders through to final sales.
  • Difficulties in container control, especially when goods were received partially.
  • Inconsistencies in units of measure, as operations involved boxes, pallets, and square feet simultaneously.
  • Lack of real-time visibility into inventory levels and costs, impacting decision-making.
  • Misalignment between logistics operations and their accounting and financial impact.

How Binhex helped

From Binhex, we work together with Solid Tile to organize and optimize their end-to-end operations, with a strong focus on warehousing, logistics, and imports, aligning the physical operation with commercial and financial management.

The impact was delivered across five key areas:

1. Warehouse and logistics operations

We improved inventory control, inbound and outbound goods tracking, and day-to-day logistics management. The team now operates with greater accuracy and traceability, supported by mobile tools (PDAs) that reflect the real-time status of the warehouse.

2. Financial integration

We integrated billing directly into the system, streamlining financial processes and reducing manual tasks, errors, and reconciliation time.

3. Process validation and approval

We implemented validation and approval workflows that bring operational control and structure, ensuring that each critical step follows clear rules before moving forward.

4. Import management and landed costs

We developed and optimized the entire container import process, incorporating landed cost calculations to gain real visibility into the costs associated with each operation.

5. Logistics optimization

We integrated Solid Tile with EasyPost, a logistics optimization solution that improves shipment management and increases distribution efficiency.

Results and Value Delivered

As a result of this implementation, Solid Tile was able to:
